good if you pay attention May 19, 2010 Christopher Schievink I have 2 humidors, a desk top that holds 500 and a travoli that holds.... I have no idea but I have about 10 boxes of cigars and 300 loose. In the desk top I have the Oasis Ultra when I got it it worked for 24 hours after that it started beeping h2o I filled it per instruction, and 4 hours later it started beeping again saying h20. So I called Tampa Humidor where I bought it. They directed me to call Oasis which is located in Buffalo NY. Being a Sunday I left a message and received a call the following day. I explained the issue to Oasis they apologized for the inconvenience told me to send it back and they paid for the shipping both ways. On top of that I explained to them I had a very large collection of 90+ rated sticks and was worried about them. Cigar Oasis took it upon themselves to next day the ultra. Since then i have had no issues with it, I've only had to refill it once since then. My Oasis XL on the other hand has a problem, it doesn't tell me when it is short on water which until i figured that out aggravated me to no end. I had the XL, a bowl of distilled water, and 70%rh heartfelt beads to keep both levels at 65%. Then it dawned on my dumb ass to refill it after that it has kept the humidity I just checked it an hour ago and both hygrometers read 63 and 67% respectively. So I guess what I have to say is the people at Cigar Oasis were wonderful unlike what some people on here have said. Both products have worked wonderful for the past 6 months, I say if you have an issue call them if you buy this product thinking it is a cure all and you don't need to pay attention to your cigars anymore you are an idiot. This does however make life easier. I would HIGHLY recommend this product.
Stops working after time April 26, 2010 Darrin L. Curtis I bought three of these several years ago. Only one of the three is still working. Two of them will not allow you to set the humidity level. I would think for $100 a pop, these would last many years. Also, the power supply on all three fell apart. I was able to salvage two with tape. One last note, when they worked they were great.
Cigar Oasis Plus Tops October 24, 2009 R. Beglau (Texas) The unit works very well and I am pleased I bought it. It may be overpried .... but it is worth it in that it is protecting a small treasure of fine cigars!
Eh. Unsure about value. November 25, 2008 FerretKing 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Bought two of these puppies. Have two desktop humidifies, the largest Diamond crown makes, hold about 150 cigars each. On the XL the resevoir was way too small, constantly drying out, so I ordered and put XL Plus resevoirs on there. Worked for maybe 2 years, now both of them have started going haywire, displays messing up or just not working, not doing their job. $200 every year or two is pretty darn expensive. Anyone else got any recommendations?
Works...but not perfect. April 16, 2008 B. W. Holcomb (Cleveland, OH) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
It works, but you have to be careful of what type of humidor you are using. I have a "desktop" humidor with two levels - a bottom level holding about 100 cigars and a top tray that hold about 75 cigars. If I locate the Oasis on the top tray, the cigars on top become a bit saturated and the cigars on the bottom dry out a bit. Vice versa if I change the configuration.
The top tray has several openings between the Spanish cedar slats but if I pack the top full then it cuts the air flow down too much. Another issue is that where the cigars overlap the slats they develop striations of moisture.
This would be a perfect device for a large humidor with a lot of open space. But for a smaller desktop model, not so good.
